Blue Tongue in a "blue"

A blue tongue lizard was recently brought into our the clinic after a "blue" with a dog. The owner of the dog had come out into the backyard to find his dog playing with the blue tongue lizard. The lizard was, obviously, less than impressed with his new "friend" and was hissing.

Our veterinary team checked the lizard to ensure he was not hurt after the encounter with the dog, and fortunately he was fine. He was shedding his skin, which made him look a little scruffy, but he was unharmed. We sent him to one of our wonderful wildlife carers to ensure he was well enough to be returned to his home.

Late spring and summer is the time of year where we see more wildlife out and about so please keep a watch for any "playdates" your pets may be organising with the locals - best to be avoided!
